Green Smoothie

I remember when the green smoothie 'movement' emerged, I was loving my green juices at the time and couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Until a good friend of mine, Guy, said it's all about the fibre, which you loose when you juice your greens. Eventually I discovered them and nothing satisfies me more than a
good green smoothie, with heaps of kale & parsley, seasonal fruits, some sort of citrus and some supplements like macca powder, flax oil (or hemp oil for those who live in US, UK, Canada or Europe) acai berry or any other such goodness.
I find the citrus give the zing & adds a little brightness and helps with the up take of iron with the kale.

I've never made this combo of green smoothie and had someone not like it!
It's all in the alchemy and balance of tangy citrus, bitter green, sweet fruitiness and creamy banana texture!

Have a play with this combination...

Green smoothie...
with kale, parsley, banana, blueberries, lime juice, soaked chia seeds & supplements

Makes - 1.2litres (approximately 4x glasses)

6-8 small kale leaves, roughly chopped
4 small banana's (I like frozen ones) roughly chopped
125gm blueberries or other berries
2x passion fruits
2x juice of a large lime (or lemon, orange or mandarin)
1 cup parsley (or mint), roughly chopped
500ml filtered water
1 tbs soaked chia seeds

Soak chia seeds in 1/2 glass of water (10 mins is good) and then prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Add everything to the blender and whizz until smooth. Make sure the banana & kale has been fully blended!
Pour into glasses and enjoy!

*When in season try mango, pineapple, passionfruit, strawberry or any other fruit that takes your fancy.
